The beauty of our tiles as well as their strength and wearability partially comes from the fact that we fire twice. The second time we high fire them to cone 5. After dipping the glaze we hand rub each piece to get just the right amount of clay body showing through the glaze. As a result each piece is different from the next. Our terracotta is not the same as a flowerpot terracotta because of the above, and we have a finish that accentuates the carvings giving each piece an individualality. We also do both tan clay bodies as well as red clay bodies. The cream glaze has a totally different look on red versus on tan. The green glaze only looks good on red; and the brown glaze only looks good on tan. Achieving a matte or semigloss finish in cone 5 is a challenge. If you want he look, this is one of the few places where you can get it.
